Exploring Köln, Germany - Photowalk thru Cologne

While we spent a little over 48 hours in Köln, Germany we don't have a ton of text or adventures really to speak of as it was more a city we were passing through.  Some noteworthy pieces of history to see including the picture above which is the Kolner Dome and the brightly colored houses found near the river walk.  Köln is a 2,000 year old city spanning the Rhine River - the architecture here is some of the most spectacular we have seen since our tour thru Europe... very Gothic in design, ancient but beautiful carvings almost everywhere.  Köln was one of the most heavily bombed cities during World War II its impressive that a structure like the Kolner Dome wasn't damaged during the war - while we were visiting however the Dome was undergoing a lot of renovation.  READ MORE ABOUT KÖLN, GERMANY HERE THRU THIS WIKI LINK

Would we recommend visiting Köln, Germany? I'm not sure our short stay there warrant any longer of a visit - so I don't think we will go back but if your able to stop here for a day trip or just a night, then grab your camera you'll be pleased with the Kolner Dome and walking the banks of the Rhine River.  Here are some images to give you an idea of what the downtown Köln area is like...

If you walk down the Rhine River away from the Kolner Dome you will see these iconic colored houses (below) scattered around... Don't eat near any of these restaurants that hustle people in and sit them down - we had a mediocre to sub par experience at one of these spots..  Look for something more authentic.
