The Tastes of Spain - Pinxos, Pinxos, pinxos, flavors from San Sebastián

Visiting Spain tapas are one of the more traditional foods you will see and most likely consume while bouncing from bar to bar.  The moment we arrived and got settled in San Sebastián we got ready to go out for their €2 pinxos+drink deal night.  The tapas (aka pinxos in the Basque Country) as small plates consisting of: sea food, pork, Spanish meatballs, loads of croquettes, queso balls, iberico ham and so much more.  At the first bar we tried squid and fried shrimp pinxos and each came with a decent portion of beer for only €2 - this was awesome and cheap too.  We bounced around to a few different pinxos spots - we were lucky to be staying with some really good friends of Emily's they showed us some of the best pinxos spots in all of San Sebastián, Spain.

Some of the pinxos bars can be real tourist traps but we had a former 'tour guide' with us who knew which spots were worth the space in our stomachs.  We ate and drank our way thru San Sebastián - it was a treat to be able to enjoy the locals food bars and drink alongside the people of the Basque Country.  The people of this area were very polite, helpful and laughed when I tried my best to speak some Spanish our hosts had taught us.  The food was fantastic - Emily enjoys sea food very much but sometimes I can hesitate - the seafood I tried along with the group each night was great.  We also were taken to a secret gem of San Sebastián: La Viña (click thru here for their full site) and introduced to their out of this world Crispy Cheesecake.

We enjoyed this burnt cheesecake almost every single night after we discovered it's greatness.  We will miss the flavors of San Sebastian as we ate very well here - we would recommend this destination for those looking to eat some really fantastic Spanish cuisine in the Basque country.  Thanks for reading, content will be slow-going over the next couple weeks as we are on a trip in India, with varied wifi connections and trying to capture some really magnificent content (not to mention celebrate with friends) - so bare with us as we continue to bring you more adventure travel content from around the world ~Meet you there.
