Tastes of Thailand - Our favorite places to eat on Koh Phi Phi, Thailand
We spent over a week on Koh Phi Phi island in beautiful Thailand and did our fair share of eating: breakfasts, massaman curry, yellow noodle dishes and more deliciously spicy Thai dishes. We like to help guide others in choosing the best places to drop your hard earned travel money - pick your meals wisely with our Eat! Koh Phi Phi guide. Be very careful where you eat while spending time in Thailand - we've heard horror stories of many vacations being ruined by eating sketchy street meat or questionable food. We do our research before going to any restaurant in a foreign destination - spend time doing yours as well it will pay off for two reason: you'll feel good knowing your meal is going to be enjoyed and you won't be hurting with a stomach ache (or worse waste a few days spent in the bathroom).
Grand PP Arcade is a fantastic option for breakfast and dinner - this establishment closes for a few hours during the afternoon so you'll have to catch them in the morning or evening. Their food is top notch, we enjoyed a few breakfasts here and ate dinner at Grand PP once as well - I recommend the breakfast sets with a delicious iced coffee (grab a water as well to stay hydrated) and for dinner a must-have is their Massaman curry with chicken. I did my fair share of sampling all the different Massaman curries on Koh Phi Phi island and this definitely ranked as one of my favorites. Below is an image of their Banana pancakes...
For a cheap lunch stop check out: the Green Garlic (known as Garlic 1992) - Emily was in love with this place and their yellow noodle dish with chicken. Plus if your looking to save money while on Koh Phi Phi then Green Garlic is a great option for those dining on a tight budget. Another place you cannot miss is Papaya (they have two locations on Phi Phi) - this was our first and last dinner meal on Koh Phi Phi we really enjoyed trying their different Thai dishes and Indian food as well. You'll be stuck starring at the countless reviews written all over the wall of the restaurant - we really enjoyed the spicy Chicken Tawa Indian dish with garlic naan (oh don't forget to look for the grey cat hanging out in the fridge). Feel free to bring your own beer into this establishment some of the eateries on Koh Phi Phi don't serve alcoholic beverages but they also don't mind you carrying your own beer in from the street. Below is an image of the Chicken Tawa (Indian dish) and Fried Rice served in a pineapple from Papaya
Looking for a different breakfast stop or lunch other than Grand PP arcade? Then have a stop at either the Koh Phi Phi bakery or the French bakery titled Patcharee Bakery. Both serve reasonably priced breakfast sets and delicious iced coffee beverages. Enjoy trying these different food places spread about thru Koh Phi Phi busy streets - most of our picks were reasonably priced as we stayed away from an expensive restaurants on KPP because good food comes at a cheap price on this beautiful Thai Island.
