Spain is known For their 'underground cannabis clubs' we were lucky to have spent time checking out a few different locations while staying in San Sebastián and also Barcelona, Spain. The Strain Hunters clubs are located in discrete, secret locations in both San Sebastián and Barcelona were some of the most advanced, forward thinking cannabis clubs we have ever visit. We first were introduced to these secret member-only clubs by our good friend in the Basque Country who took us to Strain Hunters San Sebastián. Strain Hunters is no ordinary cannabis club and operates very differently from the coffee shops in the Netherlands. Who are the strain hunters?

“Strain Hunters is a series of documentaries aimed at informing the general public about the quest for the preservation of the cannabis plant in the form of particularly vulnerable landraces originating in the poorest areas of the planet. The sole intent of Strain Hunters is to identify, locate and retrieve cannabis landraces that have not yet been studied, in order to give scientists and doctors the possibility to further enhance knowledge of the cannabis plant in the medicinal field. STRAIN HUNTERS CLUBS // THE MOST AMAZING THING WE HAVE EVER SMOKED IN

The Strain hunters team has traveled to the corners of the world in search of one thing: the finest, purest, ancient, but original cannabis strains - the pure Kushes, original Hazes and untouchable charas/hash that exist in different regions. Chasing charas or Manali cream (hash) as its called in Manali, India or hunting down the best sensamilia from Jamaica, Trinidad and beyond - the Strain Hunters have collect the best most original blends of cannabis, the true history of cannabis lies in its roots. We wouldn't have a strain like Girl Scout Cookies without the process of blending/crossing and breeding combinations of existing cannabis varieties. The cannabis industries in California and Colorado are flooded with (in my opinion) made up strains - growers may believe they have a certain strain but without perfection of cloning, seed popping and meticulous organization we often confuse strains or mix them up. The strain hunters have gone back in time searching farms for these modern strains ancestors by traveling to remote locations of the world - hunting thru jungles, valleys and green houses in search of where these dinosaur strains first came to life. Many centers, coffee shops and cannabis companies have lost this mentality to the money maker strains: Sour Diesels and OG Kush combinations the vast majority of the strains we consume now are hybrids (a cross between a Sativa and Indica).

Strain hunters has done something completely different by preserving the historic, natural, organic strains that first exist before we started crossing all our plants into hybrids. Upon first walking into the Strain Hunter Club Donostia - you see beautiful photography of seeds popping, female plants and hash like you've never seen before. You'll see some images from the Strain Hunters documentaries that depict the team riding horses deep into horizon in search of the purest most preserved cannabis producing locations ever known to connoisseurs.

Please note: the general public cannot enter these clubs without being accompanied by a member or having been invite to join the club (DO NOT go wandering into the club thinking you'll be able enjoy it like we did - you will be turned away). After checking in at the reception desk with our friend (member) - they copied our passports as we signed a document which enabled us the opportunity to experience the S.H.C. first hand. Strain Hunters club is beautiful in style, decor, design and is delightful to experience thanks to the friendly, easy-going staff. As a visitor to the club you aren't able to go to bud tending counter but we can tell you that Strain Hunters only serves the best buds, excellent strains, top quality hash and even to our surprise hash oil and edibles too. This club also lets you borrow quality dab rigs, torches, bongs for flower, vaporizers and an endless supply of joint papers to enjoy their high end product with.

Be prepared for a session when you walk into Strain Hunters Donostia we definitely didn't leave in the same state as when we entered. In addition they serve up delicious coffee drinks, beers (no hard liquor), and also some cakes and munchies in case you get hungry while spending your afternoon at the Strain Hunters club. This was such an excellent and exciting experience for us being the connoisseurs we are - if your looking for a divine cannabis club than nothing will beat the Strain Hunters Club located in Barcelona and Donostia, Spain.

Although you may not be able to check out S.H.C. Keep in mind you will need a local address to member up or a recommendation from a person that is already a member at the club - follow the instructions very carefully and you should be all set to enjoying Spanabis and a sweet, chill spot like La Mesa.
