Minturn, Colorado according to the 2010 census has a population of 1027 rather astonishing because it lies in between the tourist heavy resort towns Vail and Beaver Creek, Colorado (stats from Minturn Wiki click here for more). If ever your bringing visitors up to the Vail Valley take some time to stop into Minturn located one exit past West Vail – Saturdays as an especially great day to pay a visit here. The first must-do is the Minturn Farmer’s Market – which takes place every Saturday from June 13 – September 5th (this 2015 summer). We’re especially huge fans of farmers markets here at MYT – we believe in locally grown foods and hand made goods and love supporting our local farmers markets. We love to build meals at the markets (organic farm raised protein, pasta and fresh veggies) and we see this being a skill we will use in Europe and the rest of the world. Be sure to check out all the different art vendors, hand made clothing items and different food selections like crepes, BBQ, cupcakes, farm fresh fruit and more deliciousness.
Once your done walking the market head across the street to locals’ favorite spot: Sticky Fingers Café (look for Sticky the bear). One of our favorite breakfast/lunch stops in Minturn, Colorado – SFingers is always serving up the tastiest lunches, baked goods (warm cinnamon buns), hot/fresh coffee and breakfast delights. I prefer the French toast or the breakfast sandwich – Sticky Fingers offers a nice selection of healthy lunch alternatives tossing avocado/sprouts/fresh tomatoes on your pick of sandwich or salad. Save room for some of their signature soft serve gelato – it’s a must for the scenic drive you should take after visiting the town of Minturn.

Lastly head up Highway 24 the opposite direction you entered Minturn (away from i70) and drive on scenic byway Highway 24 – one of the most beautiful views of the rocky mountain ranges in all of Colorado. From Minturn you’ll drive out to the abandoned gold-mining town of Gilman, Colorado sweeping views of some of the biggest 14ers the state has to offer: the Mount of Holy Cross. Drive carefully/slow as these roads are winding and tight mountain passes (avoid during the snowy winter time – best explored during Spring / Summer). This is the perfect sunset drive if your staying in Vail and want a fantastic photography location – hope you enjoy exploring Minturn and more.
