The Cleveland metro parks are located close by to our home - making these parks an accessible place to hike, bike, run, explore with a camera or your furry friend.  One of our favorite hikes is to walk creek side (or in the creek if you brought your creek shoes along) from Quarry Park parking lot to the waterfalls down at the Squaw Rock parking area.

The rock carvings here are iconic some of the metro parks oldest relics – this carving was complete back in 1885 by blacksmith and artist Henry Church.  Other carvings may be found along the riverside but the most famous of the carvings is a woman with a shell behind her and you’ll also see: a quiver of arrows, a dog, skeleton and a few other pieces by Henry Church.  Click here to - read more about Squaw Rock and discover the Cleveland Metroparks

Snap pictures at this spot and explore the various levels of falling water - you'll see where the water has carved out its own path from deep inside the rock formations.  Just down the river from here you'll see the water calm down before the big set of waterfalls below the squaw parking area.  Always test the deep spots before jumping in but certainly is a good place to take a dip and cool off for a few minutes.  Check out our photos and GoPro videos coming soon – we took plenty of images that day with more content coming soon.  We had a fantastic day exploring the Cleveland Metroparks somewhere I have always hiked growing up nearby.
