Exploring Local - Camping Homestake Peak Reservoir, Redcliff, Colorado
“I like people who smile when its’ raining”
A quick image recap from a recent trip to Homestake Peak Reservoir out near Redcliff, Colorado heading to Leadville. We had planned to camp the night out here near mile marker 3 aka the waterfall but due to heavy rain we were sent home - around 11pm. On some camping trips its best to make a smart calculated decision when to pull out and safely go somewhere else to sleep. Being comfortable and warm is a much better decision than potentially betting sick from hypothermia or worse not being able to make it out on the next camping trip. I wasn't preparing for a night of non stop rain, my clothes began soaking thru just keeping the fire raging to keep us all warm - so we made the decision to pack up and return the next day to recover the tent. While some brave campers weathered the rain - I was glad we made the decision to go home and warm up... only to have a perfectly blue bird day the next day, sometimes here in Colorado - you can't predict the weather.
