FIVE REGIONS TO VISIT - FIVE MORE WE PLAN TO SEE

How did we go about planning a tour of Europe you might ask yourself - it's been interesting, fun, slightly stressful and exciting trying to pick all the different places we want to see during our first tour of Europe.  While the planning for the first month of our trip is coming along nicely we won't always have a structured itinerary and we have learned it's important to let travel plans wander a bit - remember that it's the journey along the way not always the destination.  Let me break down the first 5 European countries we will be in and some of the noteworthy events we hope to catch in each region:

  1. Belgium
  2. The Netherlands
  3. Germany
  4. U.K.
  5. France

We are absolutely ecstatic to be exploring these regions first - waffles and culture to adjust in Belgium then to the Netherlands to enjoy some of Europe's finest brews inside of Hollands most unique pubs.  This is a great time to visit the Schengen region - many countries host their colorful, culture filled festivals during the warmer months of September.  We are essentially catching what is called 'Shoulder Season' mid June thru September and October - catching both peak-season travel and off-season (want to read more? here's a solid article on When is the best time visit Europe by Rick Stevens).  We to fill up our fair share of beer-steins during Germany's Oktoberfest - a 16 day folk festival running from September - first week in October and takes place in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.

The Netherlands is a region we have never visit (as a kid I toured thru Europe very quickly in about ten days) and we're thrilled to be able to spend some time there.  Unique architecture, stunning century old canals and more art work than anyone can possibly see in just one visit.  I am really looking forward to the photography that will come out of all these destinations - I can't wait to begin snapping Europe.

The U.K. is a new region for both of us to be visiting as well - while we don't have a ton of time planned here we will still be fortunate to see London and catch a concert up north in Birmingham, United Kingdom.  It would be really special to catch a Barclay's Premier League soccer match at some point during our travels or even better when we continue on to Spain seeing a soccer game there would be absolutely epic.  Leaving the U.K. we will travel into Paris, France so that Emily can have a taste of France's finest fashions, strolling the streets drooling at top designers from across the globe and so that I can capture the beauty and magnitude of the Eiffel tower.  We cannot wait to check out France - if there's any where we must go, see and photograph please leave us a comment below... now onto five more regions we plan to see.
